What is the weather like in Australia?


Australia, being as big as it is means that you can always find a comfortable climate whatever time of year you plan to travel here. Spanning latitudes from 10° to 45°, about 40% lies above the tropic of Capricorn making visits the the northern parts of Australia perfect from April through to October, places such as Cairns, Airlie Beach give great access to the Great Barrier Reef which still enjoy warm ocean temperatures all through the southern hemisphere winter. With average daytime temperatures in the mid 20°'s and similar water temperatures making any part of northern Australia a perfect winter destination. On average Australia experience 11 cyclones that cross the coastline each year, cyclone season runs from November through to April, also know as the wet season. Towns such as Tully to the South of Cairns have an average rainfall of over 4000mm most of which falls during the wet season.

 

The Australian summer can be hot to say the least, with outback temperatures regularly reaching the high 40°'s, however with over 25000km's of coastline respite can be found on the stunning beaches Australia is famous for. Or if you're still keen on some adventure southern states like Victoria and Tasmania have the perfect temperatures for exploring the wilderness on offer. These southern states also provide the opportunity for skiing and snowboarding during the winter months with good snowfall each year along the Victorian alps.
